Winter camping in Oregon

I finally got a chance to try out the new rooftop tent last weekend in central OR, southeast of Bend. The tent is a Roofnest Condor XL, mounted on my trusty 1987 FJ60. The weather was perfect – crystal clear in the evening for star gazing, and a little frosty in the morning. The tent was flawless. Easy to put up and take down, tons of room, and very comfortable to sleep in. Can’t wait for the next trip!

  1. Great shots! Looks cold too…. FJ60’s are just cool. I enjoy that area year round myself. A friend has some property in La Pine so we get over there fairly often. Nothing like the clear skies at night. I went to school with a Chris Eichman…. Cleveland High School in Portland? I graduated in 1990.

  2. Wow…yep, that’s me! CHS class of ’89. You may also know my sister Amy, class of ’91. Crazy small world. I’ll have to catch you on the air soon to swap some stories.

  3. Yes! I remember Amy. That’s awesome. I rarely run into people from high school. Only stayed in touch with a few and sadly a few have passed. I was pretty introverted and a photography and radio nerd.
