Cottonwood Canyon State Park. moro, oregon

Just got back from a great weekend with Travis W0MUD, Tim WB7TIM, and Troy KI7HML. Travis planned the trip to activate the area for Parks On The Air. Travis and Tim both had Yaesu QRP rigs (FT-817 and FT-818) with wire antennas, battery packs,…

Show us your rig! KB7RQQ’s full size Ram

Time to get this started…. While not the most ‘overland’ by what’s become today’s standards… This is my adventure/off road/camping/fishing/get to and from work rig. It’s a 2006 Ram TRX4. Camper is a 1990 Sunlite Eagle pop-up. She’s on her second 5.7l engine at…

Trip to Southern Oregon Wildlife Parks

My wife and I took a trip down to the Southern Oregon coast to visit Wildlife Safari in Winston Oregon, and the Bandon Wildlife Park in Bandon, Or.  I took a bunch of pictures so here is a few.  Very fun trip and only…

“Outhouse” we built at fish camp in Lapine, Or.

Probably the fanciest one in the area. All reclaimed materials and items like the vanity, lighting, and shower were all from Craigslist😜. We did buy cedar fence boards for the walls. The ceiling is old weathered barn wood found on the lot. It’s packed…

Summer 2018 VT Camping

This summer I got out a few times camping with the family but sadly it was no where as many times as when my kids were all at home I am thankful we have so many primitive sites in either state or federal forest…

John Day River near Rufus Oregon

Just back from the John Day River in Oregon for some bass fishing. Good time, good food, good friends.

Fire ban? Propane fire rings can save the weekend camping experience.

Made it to Lake Merwin, Wa. about 8pm last night. My son, Alex, and grandson Brantleigh are here.  We were looking forward to sitting by the fire.  Fortunately, a fire ban in our area still allows “propane appliances” and includes propane fire rings.
